Bernadette is the Founder and CEO of TCG Inc. With over 25 years of experience, she has successfully managed and consulted on a wide range of projects, including strategic training consulting, competency-based analysis, curriculum development (traditional and online), e-learning strategy development, and learning evaluation. Her expertise has benefited clients in Canada and globally. Bernadette’s accomplishments include a nomination for Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year in 2001. She is a respected speaker at conferences and workshops, focusing on organizational e-learning strategies and competency-based human resource development.
Bernadette has over 20 years of experience using occupational standards to design and deliver competency-based learning programs. She developed an in-depth understanding of occupational standards when she developed and managed a 12-month dietetic internship program based on national occupational standards for dieticians. In recognition of her occupational standards expertise, she was selected by the Canadian Dietetic Association to initiate accreditation of competency-based dietetic internship programs across Canada. As a senior accreditor for the Association, she conducted reviews of many Canadian Dietetic internship programs to assess their adherence to national occupational standards. Since her introduction to occupational standards in the mid-1980s, Bernadette has utilized occupational standards extensively in many sectors and contexts. Bernadette has managed competency analysis projects for company clients in the labour, business, health, and tourism sectors.
Prior to creating TCG Inc., Bernadette was Director of Human Resources Management in the health care system, and held various leadership positions in the educational sector and government. She has many years of experience as a leader in provincial and national associations, and has previous work experience as a director of human resources management, staff development manager, educational planner, clinical dietician, and food service manager.
Bernadette holds a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Adult Education (M.Ad.Ed.) degree from St. Francis Xavier University, Antigonish, Nova Scotia. She has pursued post-graduate studies in educational technology from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (University of Toronto), George Washington University, and the University of British Columbia. She obtained competency-based training education at Holland College, received Essential Skills Occupational Profiling certification from Bow Valley College, Alberta, and completed Certificates in Project Management Essentials and Comprehensive Project Management from Procept Associates. She holds certification in DACUM Facilitation from the Canadian Vocational Association and as well as Certificates in DACUM Facilitation and Systematic Curriculum and Instructional Design (SCID) from The Ohio State University. Bernadette has also received Occupational Language Analysis training from the Centre for Canadian Language Benchmarks.
